3 Air Travel Trips to Make Your Holidays Better

If you have to hop on a plane this holiday season, it may not feel like the most wonderful time of the year.  While the kids are jingle belling and everyone's telling you to be of good cheer, you can REALLY feel that way if you follow these 3 flying tips:

1.  Keep your skin hydrated
If you think the cold winter air is bad for your skin, try combining it with dry airplane air!  Linger in either one long enough, and you'll wind up with dry patches, a dull complexion, and skin that's downright itchy.

In order to keep your skin from screaming for mercy, keep it hydrated.  For example, dab your face with one of our scented towels at take-off and landing.  Or, wash off your makeup with one of our remover wipes before the cabin door closes.  Each one has special conditioners in it that will quench your skin's thirst.

2.  Avoid the peaks
A scented towel can refresh your senses in the middle of a busy airport, but do yourself a favor and avoid traveling on peak days -- like the day before Thanksgiving or the Sunday night before everyone has to be back at work.  Flying this time of year can be stressful enough, so do everything possible not to add to it!

3.  Keep movin'
We created ScentedTowel.com after spending countless hours in the air for business.  So, we know that sitting immobile for too long (like during a long flight) can make you more prone to blood clots.  That's why you've got to move around!

While you don't normally associate airplanes with leg room, you'll still have room to move your feet and ankles without bothering anyone around.  And, you can always take a trip or two to the bathroom to stretch your legs out.

What is a "Good" Makeup Remover?

There are all kinds of products out there that claim to remove your makeup in the very best way possible.  But all makeup removers aren't created equally.  If you want to make sure you've got a "good" makeup remover, make sure that it:

-  Isn't abrasive
You need to remove your makeup, not scrub bugs off your windshield!  A good makeup remover won't have to assault your skin in order to get it clean.  Instead, it will have the right combination of bacteria-killing ingredients so that your face will be squeaky clean -- instead of screaming for mercy.

For example, our makeup remover wipes have Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate in them -- a cleanser that fights bacteria gently.  It won't make you feel like there are a million tiny scrub brushes assaulting your face when you use it.

-  Isn't too oily
Good makeup removers will have some kind of oil in them to help moisturize your skin.  However, if they're TOO oily, they'll leave residue behind -- meaning your skin won't be able to breathe.  That's why we only put two oily ingredients in our makeup remover wipes.  The other five ingredients will make sure that those oily liquids don't wind up suffocating your pores.

-  Isn't completely synthetic
Mother Nature has created a bunch of things that can keep your face clean and fresh, so if your makeup remover isn't using them, you're really missing out!  Sure, there are some synthetic ingredients that are really valuable (like the ones we've included in our own makeup remover wipes), but there are also a lot of organic substances that are great, gentle cleansers.  So, look for a makeup remover that uses a unique combination of both!

How Do You Avoid a Self-Tanning Nightmare?

Here at ScentedTowel.com, we brag about creating self-tanning towels that are easy to use year-round.  But that doesn't mean they're mistake-proof!  Whether you're using our self-tanning towels or some other self-tanner, there are some innocent mistakes you can make that will turn your skin into a tanning nightmare.

Like what?

-  Over-moisturizing
We're big fans of putting moisturizer on your driest areas (like your elbows and knees) before you tan.  That way, your skin will look sun-kissed AND healthy!  However, if you over-moisturize, the tanning solution won't be able to penetrate your skin.  The end result?  You'll wind up with pasty patches on every spot that received too much moisture.

-  Over-tanning
When it comes to tanning solution, a little goes a long way!  Apply too much, and you'll wind up looking fake.  (Not exactly the fashion statement you were hoping for, right?!)  When in doubt, apply less than you need.  You can always add more tanning solution later, but there's no way to "erase" an overdone tan!

-  Over-driving
Kick your tanning routine into "overdrive", and you could wind up making major mistakes.  The streaks and splotches you see are typically caused by someone who rushed through the self-tanning process.  They're in such a hurry to get the solution on that they miss spots!

Another way you can rush your tan?  By not giving it time to dry!  Even the best-applied self-tanner will streak if you pull that tight t-shirt on too soon.  So, do yourself a favor and slow down!  Aren't a few extra minutes worth it to look bronzed and fabulous?!

Let Your Nose Help You Turn Back the Clock!

In just a few short weeks, Daylight Saving Time will be over -- meaning it will be time to "fall back" and set all of the clocks one hour earlier.  That means the sun is going to come out earlier, and the night darkness is going to emerge one hour sooner.

Yes, it's only an hour, but that hour can have a huge effect on you!
Health experts admit that people can have trouble adjusting their internal clocks to a new time, even if it's just an hour.  For example, in a few weeks, you'll be going to bed an hour earlier than what you're used to -- meaning it's more likely you're going to toss and turn, and thus, lose out on valuable sleep.

Luckily, we've thought of a great solution!
Since everyone seems to go into a little bit of a temporary fog whenever the clocks change, why not use the power of scent?  Specifically, our scented towels can help you feel more refreshed and alert -- even if you're running a little low on sleep.

But don't just use our scented towels to wake up.
Use them to help you fall asleep, too!
Studies have shown that lavender (like the essential oil you'll find in our scented towels) can slow down your heart rate, slow down your blood pressure, and lower your stress level -- all of which help you fall asleep.  And, as an added benefit, lavender has also been shown to change brain wave just enough so that you sleep deeper.  That way, you'll get more bang for your sleep buck!

So, don't let Daylight Saving Time get you down.  All you need to get through it is a little help from your nose!

Lemon Scented Towels in the Winter? Absolutely!

Lemon is often thought of as the classic summer scent.  After all, we associate it with a pitcher of fresh-squeezed lemonade, those light and airy lemon meringue pies, and the lemon wedge that comes next to all of that fresh summertime fish.

However, lemons are just as great in the winter… Maybe even more so!

After all, most people are looking for a little pick-me-up when the mercury dips and the snow starts to fall.  The sun goes down earlier, and you're stuck driving home from work in the dark.  It's enough to make anyone feel a little out of sorts!

And that's where the lemons come in.

Grab one of our lemon scented towels, close your eyes, take a sniff, and you'll instantly be transported to warmer, friendlier days.  Instead of thinking about that pitch-black commute and the black ice on the roads, you'll be transported to your old summer days -- back when you would spend hours running through the backyard barefoot, letting the grass tickle your feet, and washing all of the fun down with a glass of Grandma's homemade lemonade.  Or, maybe you'll think of those warm Saturday mornings, when you jump out of bed to get a head start on your garden.

No matter what you think about, it will be a whole lot more fun than the cold, damp winter around you!

Best of all, you can take this feeling with you anywhere.  Since all of our scented towels are individually wrapped and pre-moistened, you can whip one out whenever you need it -- like when you're stuck in traffic, after that stuffy company holiday party, or right after you finish shoveling the walkway.

Who knew lemons could be the perfect winter treat?!

3 Reasons to Get a Tan Right Now

Even though we've got several cold months ahead of us, you need to grab one of our self-tanning wipes and give yourself some extra color right now.

Here's why:
1.  It can make you look healthier
Being pale is often associated with being sick.  Even if you're not fighting off a cold, you'll look a little less healthy if your skin is pasty.  And, when one of those winter colds DOES come around, your tan will make you look less sickly.  So, you'll at least have one thing to smile about in between sneezes!

2.  It can cheer you up
When the colder, darker days of winter arrive, millions of people feel just as gloomy as the weather.  The official name for this feeling is "Seasonal Affective Disorder" or "SAD" (appropriate, right?!).  Even though you'll still be months away from the sunny, warm, carefree days of summer, getting a tan can help you channel some of those feel-good emotions.  If nothing else, you'll be able to look in the mirror and have a summer-like skin tone!

3.  It can help you rock your winter wardrobe
This time of year, we put away our bright summer colors and switch to a darker wardrobe.  But if you don't have bronzed skin to go along with all of those black, brown, and gray clothes, you're going to look like a ghost (no matter how friendly of a ghost you may be!).  It's easy for winter clothes to make you look washed out, so you've got to put in some extra effort to make your skin shine.

3 Ways to Go Green with Your Makeup Routine

http://www.scentedtowel.com/makeup-remover-wipes-s/1817.htm

If you're like us, you're always looking for ways to cut Mother Nature some slack.  (Heck, we've got an entire Green Commitment to do just that!)  But did you know that you can actually make your makeup routine more environmentally friendly?

Here's how:
1.  Go organic
There's an organic version of just about everything these days -- including makeup!  Like their other organic counterparts, the brands behind this makeup work extra hard to be environmentally friendly, and they've gotten really creative with it!  For example, you can get mascara that uses natural fibers on the brush, instead of plastic.

To go organic, all it takes is a few minutes to read the label.  Organic brands will brag about going green, and you'll actually be able to pronounce the ingredients, because they won't be a bunch of odd chemicals.  As an added benefit, all of those organic ingredients will be much easier on your sensitive skin!

2.  Opt for wood instead of plastic
Got eyeliner that's encased in plastic?  It may not seem like much, but you're making a teeny-tiny dent in the environment every time you buy it.  If you want to go green, opt for something that's encased in wood -- like an eyeliner pencil, instead of a crayon, for example.

3.  Stop wasting water
When you use a "regular" cleanser, you use up a ton of water.  First, you've got to run the water until it gets warm.  Then, you need to use a bunch to get all of the cleanser off.  All the while, Mother Nature is screaming for mercy!

Our makeup remover wipes are pre-moistened -- meaning you don't even need to be around a sink in order to use one.
