Is Your Skin Ready for Fall?

Is Your Skin Ready for Fall?

Now that Summer is officially over, it's time to break out the long sleeves, enjoy the smell of pumpkin pie, and take extra good care of your skin.

What… What?!

You may think that Mother Nature wreaks the most havoc on your skin during the Summer.  After all, those scorching temperatures and high humidity can turn your face into a breeding ground for acne.  But the last few months of the year can REALLY do a number on your skin.

That's why you need to make sure your skin is prepared!

Fall's cooler temperatures can make your skin dry, red, itchy, and chapped.  Even if you don't suffer from things like Eczema, your skin can still look awfully unhealthy if you don't take the proper precautions.

Like what?

-  Keep your face clean and hydrated

Leaving makeup on your face for days on end is just going to add to the irritation.  So, be sure to give your face a thorough cleaning twice a day -- once in the morning and before you go to bed.  (Pressed for time?  Our makeup remover wipes can get your face clean in a few seconds!)  Once your skin is clean, apply a layer of your favorite moisturizer.

-  Use mild cleansers

Soap that's too harsh can make your face look dry, rough, and tight --which is the LAST thing you need when Mother Nature is already trying to attack your skin!  So, take a careful look at the ingredients in your facial cleansers.  (For example, our makeup remover wipes use mild soaps designed for the most sensitive of skin!)

One final thing to remember -- you don't have to lose your tan just because Summer is over.  A good self-tanner (like our tanning wipes) can be used year-round.  Just because Halloween is full of ghouls and ghosts doesn't mean you have to have the same complexion as one!

Going on Vacation? Apply Some Self-Tanner First!

Going on Vacation?  Apply Some Self-Tanner First!

If you're hopping on a plane and spending a few days in the sun, it may seem a little redundant to use our self-tanning towels BEFORE you leave.  After all, you've got plenty of time to tan once you're on vacation, right?

Yes, but you'll really thank yourself if you spend some time tanning first!

First and foremost, having a little more color on your skin now can help prevent you from burning later.  In fact, it's estimated that building a "base tan" (even a fake one) can give your skin a bit of a boost in the SPF department.  Or, in layman's terms, it means you won't burn as easily when you head out for an afternoon of sunbathing.

You'll still need the sunscreen, of course -- and plenty of it -- but you won't be quite as susceptible to burning.  That means your chances of spending the bulk of your vacation in your room applying aloe lotion are lower!

Another great reason to invest in some self-tanning towels before you leave?  You'll look better in your bathing suit!

After all, the last thing you want is to look pale and pasty while you sip on your PiƱa Colada -- even on the very first day of your trip.  Getting a tan before you leave will make you look more like one of the "natives", instead of a tourist who sticks out like a sore thumb.

As an added benefit, getting a pre-vacation tan will make you look thinner in your bathing suit.  That's because bronzed skin creates an optical illusion of being slimmer and trimmer.  Now THAT sets the mood for the perfect ocean-side stroll!

Why is Oil-Free the Way to Be?

Why is Oil-Free the Way to Be?

If you've taken a spin around ScentedTowel.com, then you know that we brag about our makeup remover wipes being oil-free.  But why is that such a selling point?

-  Because you don't want a bunch of breakouts

Your pores are like little sponges, sucking up everything that comes in contact with them.  So, if you use a makeup remover that's chock full of oil, you're going to wind up with pores that are chock full of oil!  The end result?  A face that's chock full of pimples!

Remember, washing off your makeup is supposed to be a healthy experience.  If you inject oil into the mix, you're simply doing damage to your face!

-  Because breakouts aren't your only risk

Even if it's been years since you last had a pimple, you still need to harness the power of being oil-free.  That's because oil can actually aggravate sensitive skin -- leaving it itchy, red, or both.  That's definitely a look you want to avoid!

-  Because you can moisturize without oil

Think that you have to give up that "dewy" look just to avoid acne?  Think again!  Great moisturizers (like some of the ingredients you'll find in our makeup remover wipes) can make your face look fresh and healthy without slathering a bunch of oil on your face.

For example, glycerin is a natural sugar alcohol compound (meaning it's all-natural) that attracts moisture to your skin.  See?  Even Mother Nature thinks that oil-free is the way to be!

Getting Married? You've Got to Get a Tan!

Getting Married?  You've Got to Get a Tan!

Just in case you didn't have enough to worry about with things like dress fittings, ring fittings, and finalizing all of the details, there's one more thing you need to add to your wedding checklist -- a great tan!

After all, this is going to be THE most photographed day of your life.  Whether you're having an intimate outdoor ceremony or a giant church wedding, you want to make sure you look like a goddess.

OK, so they're easy to use, and they won't require a ton of your precious time.  But what makes a tan SO important when you're getting ready to head down the aisle?

-  Having a sun-kissed glow will make your dress "pop" even more

That super-white lace and those white crystal embellishments you fell in love with at the boutique will look even better if they're wrapped around bronzed skin.  The contrast in colors will make you look much more awe-inspiring than if your skin was almost the same shade as your dress!

-  You'll look thinner

Whether you're a size 2 or a size 22, EVERY bride wishes they could be even thinner on their wedding day.  Luckily, adding some self-tanner into the mix will give the impression that you're slimmer -- without having to torture yourself at the gym or giving up all foods but lettuce before the big day.

-  You'll love your wedding photos even more

When you look back at your wedding photos 50 years from now, you'll be happy that you grabbed a few self-tanning towels before saying "I do".  That's because your skin will look healthy and vibrant -- even with all of those bright flashbulbs pointed at you!
