What Makes Essential Oils So Great?

What Makes Essential Oils So Great?

If you take a look at our lemon and lavender scented towels, you'll see that they're infused with essential oils.  But what exactly does that mean?  And, more importantly, why does it translate into a better product for you?

-  They're all-natural

In virtually all cases, "fragrances" are the result of a synthetic recipe.  So, instead of using anything from the lemon itself, a scientist analyzes the components of the lemon and reproduces its chemical composition.  That's why fragrances are often referred to as "manufactured scents".

An essential oil, on the other hand, is extracted from the plant, fruit, stem, or root itself.  Instead of trying to replicate the scent in a lab, scientists use special methods (like steam distillation or a cold press, for example) to pull the oil out naturally.  That way, the finished product really IS 100% natural.

-  They're more versatile

There's a big difference between lavender fragrance and lavender essential oil.  Oh sure, both may smell pretty similar if you take a quick whiff, but the essential oil comes with a variety of extra benefits.  For example, lavender essential oil can help soothe burns.  That's something you could never ask a bottle of synthetic lavender fragrance to do for you!

-  They smell better

At first sniff, you may not be able to tell much of a difference between an essential oil and a manufactured fragrance.  However, if you're planning on having the scent stick around for awhile (like you would if you wiped off your skin with one of our scented towels), you need to go with the essential oil.  Because it's all-natural, it smells a whole lot better in the long run!
