3 Self-Tanning Tricks You've Probably Never Heard Of

3 Self-Tanning Tricks You've Probably Never Heard Of

If you want to get the perfect look from your self-tanning towels, you've got to know ALL the tricks of the trade.  You've probably read the same ol' advice a million times before, but we have a feeling you've NEVER heard of these 3 tips:

1.  The exfoliator you choose really matters

You've probably heard that your skin will look better if you exfoliate before you apply self-tanner.  However, we bet you HAVEN'T heard that some exfoliators can leave oil behind.  Yup, that means the wrong exfoliator can actually make it harder for the tanning solution to absorb into your skin!

2.  Hair removal can be done the wrong way, too

Shaving and waxing can remove your self-tanner sooner, so if you want to be tan for as long as possible, remove your hair before you use your self-tanning towels.  However, the exact timing of your hair removal has to calculated VERY carefully!

It's OK to shave a few minutes before you apply your self-tanner.  However, if you tan right after you wax, your skin won't have time to heal.  Because waxing can irritate skin (and, thus, prevent the self-tanning solution from absorbing), be sure to do it at least 48 hours in advance.

3.  Shimmer makes you look tanner

If you think that ALL of your color has to come from your self-tanning towels, think again!  Applying a little bit of shimmer before a big night out will give your skin some extra glow.  In fact, it's the perfect finishing touch for shoulders when you're going strapless, or for your tummy when you're rocking a bikini!

What Exactly Does Makeup Do to Your Skin?

What Exactly Does Makeup Do to Your Skin?

When you think of makeup, you probably think of enhancing your cheekbones, making your eyes pop, and evening out your skin tone.  And, yes, great makeup can do ALL of those things (and more!).

But it also does some other stuff to your skin -- which is why we worked so hard to come up with an easy way to remove it at the end of the day!  So, the next time you think about letting your makeup linger on your face, remember that:

-  You're blocking your pores

Part of evening out your skin tone means that you're working hard to make your pores invisible.  In doing so, though, you're filling them up with foundation and powder that can leave them totally clogged.  The end result?  Breakouts and bumps that make your skin look anything but healthy!

-  You might get an allergic reaction

Even the best makeup has preservatives in it, and unfortunately, those preservatives can cause an allergic reaction.  So, if you don't use makeup remover wipes on a regular basis -- and get your face REALLY clean -- you could end up with a face that itches, burns, or turns red!

-  Two layers is NOT better than one

Ready to end a long workday with some girls' night out fun?  Be sure to remove your daytime makeup before you apply a fresh face for your nighttime fun!  Simply covering up the makeup you applied early this morning with a new layer does double the damage when it comes to clogging pores and irritating skin.

Luckily, our makeup remover wipes are so easy to use that you can have a squeaky-clean face in a matter of seconds -- making it the perfect canvas for more dramatic nighttime makeup!

Why Should You Remove Your Makeup on the Go?

Why Should You Remove Your Makeup on the Go?

We brag about our makeup remover wipes because they can go anywhere with you.  But why is that such a big deal?  Why is it so important to remove your makeup on the go?

-  Because that trip to the gym was full of bacteria

We love a good workout as much as the next guy, but have you ever thought about just how dirty your face gets while you're on the treadmill or lifting weights?  Not only are you sweating, but every time you push that stray hair out of your eyes or scratch your nose, you're transmitting germs from the rest of the gym -- like what you picked up on the free weights or on the buttons on the elliptical machine -- from your hands and onto our face.  Yuck!

When you think of it that way, grabbing a makeup remover wipe and getting rid of all that grime and bacteria can't come soon enough!

 -  Because that airplane air is terrible for your skin

Airplane air is incredibly dry -- so dry, in fact, that it can strip every bit of moisture out of your face.  When you combine all of that moisture-less skin with the dirt and grime that's accumulated in your makeup over the last six hours, it's a downright gross situation!  So, it will be well worth your time to squeeze yourself into the airplane bathroom and wipe off your face.

-  Because that stressful meeting turned your face into an oil slick

It's a proven fact that stress can make your skin produce more oil.  So, when you emerge from that awful business meeting, there's a good chance your face will feel like an oil slick.  Don't make things worse on yourself by waiting to wash your face when you get home!

Got Fair Skin? Then These Self-Tanning Tips Are for You!

Got Fair Skin?  Then These Self-Tanning Tips Are for You!

Hundreds of years ago, pale skin was actually considered to be a status symbol.  It meant that you didn't have the misery of working out in the fields like some kind of peasant.  Having pale skin was like walking around with a giant sign that said, "I'm rich and powerful", without actually having to say it!

But these days, everyone wants a great tan!  So, how do you make self-tanner look natural on your fair skin?

-  Don't go hog-wild

Your naturally-light skin will look strange if you slather on TOO MUCH self-tanner.  So, rub our tanning towels gently over your skin once (unlike people with darker skin, who may prefer to apply two coats).  It's much better to have a fainter tan than one that screams "fake!"

-  Apply carefully

Missed spots don't look good on any skin tone, but they're even more noticeable on fair skin.  So, whatever you do, don't use our self-tanning towels in a hurry!  Instead, take your time and make sure that you cover every inch.

-  Use a little bit of lotion afterwards

If you want a truly natural look, rub a little bit of lotion onto your elbows, underarms, and the backs of your knees right after you use our self-tanning towels.  That way, you can dilute the tanning solution ever-so-slightly.

Why would you want to do that?!

If you were to lay out in the sun, these areas would be slightly lighter than the rest of your body.  So, by using the "lotion trick", you can make it look like your tan came from the sun -- instead of a tanning towel!

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 26, 2013 - TRACY, Calif. -- ScentedTowel.com is proud to announce the launch of its newest product -- self-tanning towels.  According to the ScentedTowel.com team, these towels were created to benefit both individual and corporate customers.

"We wanted to come up with a product that could give people the beauty boost they were looking for, but we didn't want to stop there," explains Carl Bayer, the President of ScentedTowel.com.  "These towels are also a valuable marketing tool for businesses."

The team at ScentedTowel.com says the self-tanning towels were created, in part, to help salons and spas stand out from their competitors.  Businesses can buy these towels at wholesale prices, as part of ScentedTowel.com's special wholesale program.  They're also available as part of ScentedTowel.com's private label program.

"We know that tanning is big business, so we wanted to give our corporate customers a way to brand themselves -- without going to the trouble of creating their own tanning products or going out and buying expensive tanning equipment," explains Bayer.

The self-tanning towels are made out of 100% cotton, and they are infused with a tanning solution that's made out of certified organic ingredients.  They're designed to create a natural glow all over the body quickly -- without any exposure to UV rays.  As a result, people can feel free to use them on a regular basis.

"The results from these towels will last anywhere from four to ten days, and we made sure that they're safe to use on skin as often as people want," says Bayer.

In order to commemorate the launch, ScentedTowel.com is offering a 50% to every customer that pre-orders self-tanning towels up until October 1st.  To claim the discount, buyers need to enter the promo code HALF during checkout.

Self-Tanning Your Face Doesn't Have to Be Hard!

Self-Tanning Your Face Doesn't Have to Be Hard!

It seems like all of the self-tanning advice out there is for every part of your body EXCEPT your face.  But what are you supposed to do with bronzed arms and legs and a pasty face?

That's not natural-looking!

So, in order to make sure you wind up with a completely even sun-kissed glow, we've come up with 4 ways to make self-tanning your face easy and effective:

1.  Apply a little less than you think you need

Use our self-tanning towels very gently on your face.  The reason doesn't have anything to do with your delicate facial skin, though.  Instead, it's to prevent extra self-tanner from settling in any fine lines you may have and creating dark streaks.

After all, you probably work hard to REDUCE the appearance of those fine lines.  The last thing you need is to apply too much self-tanner and make them more noticeable than ever!

2.  Go easy on the acne treatments

If your cleansers and creams are tough enough to break through breakouts, they'll also be strong enough to dissolve your tan.  So, if you want to keep your summer glow, stay away from retinols and other powerful acne treatments.

3.  Don't forget the ears

If you've got long hair, be sure to pull all of it back before you unwrap one of our self-tanning towels.  After all, you may not see your ears when your hair is down, but when you put your hair in a ponytail on your next date, you don't want to expose a set of pasty ears!

4.  Tap into the power of Q-Tips

As easy as our self-tanning towels are to use, you might end up wiping a bit too much on certain parts of your face.  If too much tanning solution winds up in the crease of your nose or next to your hairline, you can correct the problem by wiping it away with a Q-Tip.  Consider it to be your "tan eraser"!
